Terms of service.
Last updated 2026-05-23
These terms apply when you use Steady with ADHD (the “Program,” “Service,” or “Steady”) operated by New Tree Counseling, P.C. By signing up, you agree to what's on this page.
What Steady is (and isn't)
Steady is an educational program about ADHD-aware systems, routines, and strategies. It is not therapy, medical care, diagnosis, or a crisis service. It does not establish a clinical or therapist-patient relationship with Kevin Barr, LMFT, or with New Tree Counseling.
If you are in crisis or need immediate help, call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline in the US), dial 911, or go to your nearest emergency room. We do not monitor Captures, Journal entries, or any other in-app text for signs of crisis, and we are not equipped to respond to one.
Who can sign up
You must be at least 18 years old and a resident of the United States. By signing up, you confirm both.
Your account
You sign in with a magic link sent to your email. Don't share the link. You're responsible for activity on your account; if you suspect someone else has access, email kevin@newtreecounseling.com and we'll invalidate active sessions.
Payment + refunds
Pricing is shown on the checkout page and is in US dollars. Payment is processed by Stripe; we don't see your card details.
14-day refund window. If Steady isn't a fit, email kevin@newtreecounseling.com within 14 days of purchase and we'll refund your payment in full. Refund requests after the window are at our discretion.
You can cancel any active subscription from /portal/me/billing. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you've already paid for.
Account closure
You can close your account any time from /portal/me. Closure is soft-delete for 14 days (you can restore by emailing kevin@newtreecounseling.com); after that, the account and all linked data are permanently deleted. Stripe retains its own transaction history per its obligations — see the Privacy page.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Share or resell program content.
- Reverse engineer, scrape, or attempt to bypass access controls.
- Use the service to harass, defame, or harm anyone — including yourself, by attempting to use Steady in place of professional care during a crisis.
- Submit content you do not have the right to share.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
Intellectual property
Program content (lessons, handouts, videos, prompts, strategy cards, brand assets) is the property of Kevin Barr / New Tree Counseling and is licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use during your active enrollment. Your own content — Journal entries, Captures, Steady Work responses, Assessment answers — stays yours. We do not claim a license to use it beyond delivering the service to you.
Disclaimer + limitation of liability
Steady is provided “as is.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, New Tree Counseling and Kevin Barr disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service is uninterrupted, error-free, or that any specific outcome will result from using it.
Our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the state where New Tree Counseling is registered, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in that state's courts; final venue + arbitration terms will be confirmed in the legal-reviewed version of this page.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll bump the “Last updated” date at the top and email signed-in Enrollees if the change is material. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
